Local Interest
Drifters Lodge is just under a mile from Princes Risborough town centre, where there is a excellent selection of speciality shops, restaurants, pubs, 2 supermarkets, a small weekly market, an occasional Farmer’s Market (and, in season, a weekly Country Market), a library, dental and doctor’s surgeries, Churches and a Tourist Information Office.
Towns close by include the vibrant market town of Thame (Oxfordshire), which is just 6 miles away. Thame offers a wide range of individual shops, restaurants and a weekly market which is held on Tuesdays. Wendover is 7 miles from Princes Risborough and offers a pretty High Street, smart shops, excellent restaurants and a small weekly market on Thursdays.
There is easy access to the M40 (20 minutes), M25 (25 minutes) and M1 (35 minutes). Central London can be reached by road in around an hour (outside rush hour) and by train in 50 minutes. The mainline rail link to London and Birmingham is within 6/7 minutes walk, as are buses to Aylesbury and High Wycombe. Aylesbury is 20 minutes, High Wycombe 20 minutes, Oxford is 40 minutes, Birmingham 1 hour, Reading 1 hour, Windsor 45 minutes by road.
National Trust properties at Waddesdon Manor, Hughenden Manor, Blenheim Palace, Cliveden and Claydon House (among others) are all within easy reach. Stonor Park, West Wycombe Park and village and the river Thames at Marlow and Henley are all within one hour’s travel by road.
For film and TV fans, scenes from several Bond films, the TV series Midsomer Murders and many others, have been filmed locally.
The Ridgeway Path runs close to the property and other walking and cycling routes, including the Phoenix Trail, are close by.
Local villages provide country pubs, good restaurants and excellent walking and cycling. There is also easy access to horse riding, golf, swimming/other sports facilities and many tourist attractions.
